A significant but sad occasion was marked when Mansel celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 5th February 2014. Significant as it is arguably the oldest Sri Lankan Pharmaceutical Company and sad as it was sans a much adored and loved Chairman ‘Chuck’ Wijenathen.

The occasion was marked by a simple ceremony graced by Reverend Father Angelo Wijewickrama who offered prayers and blessings on the Company and its staff. Guest of Honour Mrs. Tanis Edwards wife of Former Chairman, the late Cyril Goonetileke also attended the event as did the Chairperson Bernadine de Silva and Directors Herman Gunesekera and Yamuna Balasuriya. After the cutting of the 50th Anniversary cake, members of the staff together with the visitors enjoyed a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast.
